Bendigo is a city built on the wealth of gold which was discovered in late September in 1851. It has a population of 100,000 and is located 150km north-west of Melbourne on the Calder Hwy.

The city of Bendigo has an opulent heritage and features 19th century 'boom town' architecture and the focal point of Bendigo's mall is the gleaming-white Alexandra Fountain which was established in 1881. The city is considered one of the most impressive examples of 19th century architecture in the country

2. Bendigo Pottery. This is Australia's oldest working pottery. Browse through the historic buildings and gardens and visit the pottery museum. Free entry.

3. Prince Of Wales Markets. Every Sunday at the showgrounds. This is one of Country Victoria's largest undercover markets. A few minutes drive from the park. 

4. Gold Prospecting. Visit the Golden Dragon Museum or Central Deborah Gold Mine and relive the days of the gold rush. Take a trip on the Vintage "Talking" Tram.
